When a star of children’s TV comes to the area and the Lions are asked to help, what do you do?

You turn up and help marshal over 4000 children and their families watch performances of ‘Cbeebies’ favourite, ‘Mr Bloom’s Nursery’!

Over the weekend of 28th and 29th July, the BBC and a full production team descended on Sandwell Valley Country Park to record episodes of ‘Mr Bloom’s Nursery’, which will appear on screen in the New Year. As well as lots of stalls and activities that children and their families could visit, there was also the opportunity to watch a short performance in a large marquee.

Our lions were there to show families to their seats and then to ‘patrol’ the front of the stage to ensure no ‘Tiddlers’ tried to get their own moment of fame!

Whilst no money was raised, the Lions logo was seen by over 4000 people over the two days, and we had the opportunity to talk to lots of people about who we are and what we do! We also made contact with representatives from BBC Radio WM, which may come in very handy in the future!

You never know, we might even make it on to the television next year!
