Shirley Carnival rescheduled

Following the cancellation of Shirley Carnival on July 14th Shirley Lions are pleased to announce that the ever popular event has been rescheduled to Saturday 1st September.

Carnival Chairman, Lion Phil Rippington said, “The Lions have been organising Shirley Carnival for 35 years and this was the first time we have had to cancel the event. Despite the continual rain we had remained optimistic that the field would hold up but the final deluges just before the day left the field unsuitable”.

Phil went on to say that the Lions are really pleased to be able to reschedule the Carnival as it is one of their biggest fundraisers as well as providing the opportunity for other local groups to raise funds for their own worthy causes. Shirley Lions use the funds raised to support other groups and individuals in need.

Phil continued that both Solihull Council and the Parkgate developers had been very helpful in immediately organising the use of and access to Shirley Park.

The Lions are currently contacting all the performers and stallholders to see if they can reschedule to September 1st. Unfortunately a number of stallholders have already said they are unable to reschedule, so plots are now available. To book a plot please contact Shirley Lions on 0845 833 9547.
