Market Harborough celebrate World Sight Day

 

 

An exercise to highlight the importance of having regular checks at the opticians saw the chairman of Harborough District Council walk blindfolded through the town guided by PDG Lion John Bush of Market Harborough Lions Club.

The blindfolded walk took place on World Sight Day when John Everett, chairman of the Council walked from The Three Swans Hotel to Sainsbury’s. On his way Cllr Everett had to navigate two crossings, people passing

An information board was also set up by the Lions outside Sainsbury’s where club members gave out leaflets and spoke to the public about various eye problems including glaucoma, cataract, diabetic eye disease, dry eye, inflammation of the cornea, raised cholesterol and diabetes.

They also talked about what Lions do, which four men thought of sufficient interest to make some encouraging comments about thinking of finding out more.
