Worcester Lions say welcome and farewell

At the first October meeting Worcester Lions welcomed Zone Chairman Lion Heather Jeavons to the club.

Lion President Angie Wytcherley had invited Zone Chairman Heather, together with sponsor Lion Dennis Chamberlain, to induct Linda Mellonie. The induction ceremony was carried out in such an impressive manner that Lion Linda should always remember the occasion.

At the meeting Lion Ray Sheldon announced that this really was his last meeting and as a memento Lion Angie presented him with a David Birtwhistle picture ‘’A Winter Scene’’. Ray thanked the club on behalf of himself and Christine, and indicated that they would welcome members to visit them at their Lake District home and at his new Lions Club in Keswick. Ray had transferred to Worcester Lions in 2001 and had been President in 2004/5. A true Lion, he will be greatly missed by the Worcester Club.

Lion Linda was one of six Worcester Lions the following week manning the World Sight Week stand at the local Asda store. A collection was made for Sight Concern Worcestershire, as well as making members of the public aware of the importance of getting their sight checked
