That’s it all over now that the Christmas Sleigh has been wrapped up and put way for another year.
Thanks to the help and co-operation of the management and staff of the local Morrison's Superstore and the generosity of the customers, nearly £1,700 was raised over the five days the sleigh was at the store.
Applications made for grants from a scheme run in conjunction the local paper, the Malvern Gazette, saw £1,250 given away in donations of up to £250 each in the Christmas round of the scheme. The successful candidates included the Colwall Orchard Group who received £250 to fund a new gate and the Wilderness Regeneration Group who received £250 to pay for repairs to the ride on mower at their community garden. £100 was given to Guy's Footprints who provide support for bereaved children. The money will buy 20 memory boxes for the children. The Brook Farm Community Association received £250 for a Kinect motion controller for an Xbox whilst £225 was given to Reaction Theatre Makers for the hire of a hall. Finally the First Malvern Scouts received £180 to pay for folding tables and £40 was given to St Joseph Church to buy a carpet.
To complete Christmas 2012 the last thing to do is collect the money raised from the raffle of the 15 Christmas Hampers.
