Christmas in Dudley

Dudley Lions Club held their yearly Charity Food Collection on 8th /9th December 2012 with the kind permission of the Tesco Extra store in Dudley. A massive 663.1Kg of food items and 8kg of non food was collected over these 2 days, which was 33% up on the 2011 collection.

All the food and non food items were passed on to the local Black Country Food Bank where it will be used to help as many needy people and families as possible.

Lion President Jenny Walters said “Once again the people of Dudley and surrounding areas have done us proud for without their kindness and generosity this collection would not have happened”.

The following week the Mayor of Dudley Cllr Melvin Mottram kindly drew the winning tickets for Dudley Lions Christmas Draw .The draw took place in the Mayor’s parlour with the prizes being kindly donated by the Black Country Museum, the Fellow’s Bar and Grill and the Village Hotel. All winners were delighted with their prizes.

The Mayor will be with Lions again in February when he attends at the Young Ambassadors competition at The Village Hotel in Dudley.
