Corby & District Lions launch a life-saving scheme

Corby & District Lions Club launched their “Message in a Wallet” scheme at their annual Senior Citizens’ party held in St. Peter’s & St. Andrew’s church hall in Beanfield Avenue, Corby, on Saturday 19 October.

“Message in a Wallet” helps keep vital medical information in credit-card form in case of emergency. The foldout card can easily be tucked away in a purse or wallet. “Message in a Wallet” is for people with an underlying medical condition in case they are taken to hospital in an emergency when away from home. It contains key medical information needed on admission to ensure the patient is treated correctly.

Many elderly and infirm people may not be able to recall all these details in full on verbal questioning, so Corby & District Lions chose their annual Senior Citizens’ party for the launch.

The Lions are providing 5,000 wallets, which are available free to anyone who needs one at Photo-Plus at 34 Elizabeth Street, Corby; from the library at the Cube and from local surgeries.
