Lions in M Muck in

DG Lion Neil Chisholm and 2nd VDG Lion Simon Moss shovel the s**t

In response to our International President’s plea to plant a million trees, Lions in District M showed that they are prepared to muck in, get their hands dirty and in case of DG Lion Neil Chisholm and 2nd VDG Lion Simon Moss shovel the s**t.

Organised by Aldridge Lions and Sandwell Lions, club members, assisted by neighbouring Lions clubs as well as members of the public, planted a total of 1,300 blackthorn, hawthorn, hazel, silver birch, rowan and oak saplings in Anchor Meadow, Aldridge and Sandwell Valley Country Park, Sandwell over a damp and misty weekend in November.

Lion Paul Murphy of Sandwell Lions said – “part of our Club’s service activity this year is caring for our environment and it’s no secret that trees help the environment. Trees are like the lungs of the planet, breathing in carbon dioxide and breathing out oxygen” Lion John Butler, President of Aldridge Lions went on to say that any of us can plant a tree and because it’s a very visible and hands-on way for each and every one of us to make a difference, we believe we have left a legacy not just for our own children but for future generations to come”

Not content with their tree planting the Lions then stayed on in the Parks where their teams of litter pickers collected innumerable bags of rubbish.

As for poor old DG Lion Neil, once recovered from his backache, he was heard to say that he never once imagined that a requirement to become a District Governor was an ability to shovel s**t all day and still keep smiling.
