Lions Clubs International - District 105M - Midland News

Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

DG Femi Onabolu’s Foreword To District 105M Midland Newsletters

By the time this first Midland News is published, we should all be settled into the new Lions year (2009/2010), in our Clubs, our zones and in the District. Every Club would have had their first and probably 2nd business meetings and started planning and executing activities for the year, Zone chairmen would have contacted all Presidents and/or Secretaries in their zones, prepared Zone diaries, agreed with hosting Clubs and arranged Social and Fundraising activities, whilst in the District, Committee meetings would have taken place, officers would have completed their action plans, the 1st District Cabinet meeting would have been concluded and the District Governor would have completed a few Club visits. All these point to one fact, the Lions year will already be in full motion.

Midland News will be very complimentary to the DG monthly letters; it will serve Cabinet officers and Committees in dissemination of news, activities and events, and will carry information and photographs of all the good works, community services and fundraising activities of our Clubs throughout the length and breath of the Midlands.

I welcome each and every one of our community and humanitarian service minded Lion to a year of continued successes in our endeavor to put a smile on cheerless faces and comfort to the needy.

Major events this year will include, World Lions Service and Sight day on Thursday 8th October 2009, the District Forum on Sunday 18th October 2009, Lion’s Day with the UN in February 2010 and the District Convention from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th march 2010. Please look out for more information on theses events.

Please send information of your proposed activities and functions to the editor and follow up with photographs of all activities for publication in the Midland News.

I wish you all an enjoyable year in Service. Please remember that “We are All One In Service”.

Femi Onabolu
DG 2009/2010
