Warwick Lions Club’s First Beer Festival

Warwick Lions First Beer Festival was held near the rails on the inside of Warwick Racecourse next to the campsite.

All the beers came from Warwickshire breweries namely Church End, Purity Ales, Slaughterhouse Brewery and Warwickshire Beer Company.

It was held Friday and Saturday 17and 18 July. On Friday night, a rainy evening, it ran from 6pm to 10pm and on Saturday the weather was fine and it was supposed to run from 12 noon until 10pm. However, despite the Lions best efforts, the beer ran out at 8.00 pm.

Entertainment and caterers were provided on both days. On Saturday afternoon the Pandemonium Steel Orchestra played providing a relaxed atmosphere where drinkers could admire their green surroundings and a distant view of the town.

Takings on the two days were very similar and the final profit will be about £4400, which will benefit Myton Hamlet Hospices and Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and other local charities.

This is likely to become an annual event so please follow its progress at http://www.lionsbeerfestival.co.uk/

Warwick Lions would like to thank Warwick Racecourse who provided the venue, marquee, toilet facilities and parking. Also thanks to CAMRA, who provided manpower, expertise and sent publicity to their members.
