Lions Take on Napton Cycle Ride

Napton is a village (with windmill) about 3-4 miles from the town of Southam that has a Cycle Ride which is a "Fun" event (tell that to my legs!) of 18 miles that takes place annually and supports local charities. This year it was the Warwickshire Association for the Blind and Disabled Access to Napton Church that benefitted.

This year Southam & District Lions decided to enter a small team (which got smaller as the event got nearer!) to help raise money but mainly to raise Southam Lions profile in the village.

Our team of three Lion Dave Williams, Lion Dave Brough and myself entered wearing our Southam Lions Hi-Viz jackets. It took just under 2 hours to complete, but this did include a rather long refreshment stop at the Plough Hostelry in Boddington.

Our Hi-Viz jackets were noticed both as we raced past people and again later as they raced past us! Luckily at the end of the ride was another pub!!!

I did think we were all novices, but Lion Dave Brough did mention as we started that he had cycled across the Penines at night from newcastle AND had cycled from John-o-Groats to Lands End (he kept that quiet).
