Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Worcester Lions Start Packing Early For Christmas!

Worcester Lions set themselves a target of collecting and filling 100 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, the charity run by Samaritan’s Purse. The shoe boxes are filled with small gifts, stationary, toiletries and confection and are distributed to disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe, Africa and Central Asia. This charity has been running for 19 years and works with local charities and churches to ensure that a shoe box is delivered by hand to the children who most need it.

After gaining support from the local press and by contacting local Guide and Brownie groups and the local YMCA the Lions managed to pack a staggering 160 boxes in one evening! It was a great evening of fellowship and demonstrated exactly what true Lionism is all about – ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
