Kettering Lions Day Out

We were recently invited to visit the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) headquarters at Baginton, Coventry Airport, as a thank you for recent donations.

Over the last three years, Kettering Lions have donated over £7500 to them, raised by our annual "Big Raffle", and we are now midway through number four. This raffle also raises funds for local charities and clubs, as we invite them to sell the tickets, and they keep 50p from every £1 ticket they sell, the balance going to the Air Ambulance. The Lions pay for the printing and the first prize of £500 from tickets that we sell in the town centre, so everybody wins.

Nine Lions went to the airfield, and enjoyed a very warm welcome and a close look at the helicopter, and then went into the WNAA control room for a question and answer session. Halfway through, the phone rang with an emergency call-out, and we saw the team swing into action, and in less than 90 seconds, the helicopter was in the air, and flying to an emergency at the NEC.

Our donations seem well spent!!
