Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Southam Lions end the year on a ‘high’!

Despite appalling weather conditions in the run up to Christmas, Southam Lions turned out in force and raised a magnificent record amount of £4,769 for selected charities at Christmas.

Funds were raised for Acorns Children’s Hospice and The Teenage Cancer Trust and representatives from the charities collected their cheques on 20th January.

Children and adults alike turned out everywhere to welcome Father Christmas with all ages catered for, from babies to great grannies and everyone enjoyed the chocolate bars handed out by the great man!

The fund-raising task this year might have been hampered by the general economic gloom, but it turned out to be not the case at all. Lion President Steve Hoyle said ‘It was very gratifying to see the extent of generosity and we offer our heartfelt thanks for the support of residents of Southam and the surrounding district to Southam Lions particularly at this busy time of the year. Each year we collect more and more for the worthwhile charities we choose’

The two pictures show SANJAY JAGATIA of Acorns Children's Hospice and LISA PALLET of Teenage Cancer Trust receiving cheques from Lion President Steve Hoyle at our meeting of January 20th 2010 for £2250 each.
