Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Marston Green help Victims of Crime

For the third year running, Marston Green & District Lions Club have joined forces (pardon the pun) with the Police to dispense a bit of Christmas cheer to families and individuals who have been recent victims of crime. The Police found suitable recipients - this year the crimes consisted mainly of anti-social behaviour towards the victims over a prolonged period of time - and the Lions organised the rest.

Thanks to the generosity of a local farmers' market and other shop-keepers, the Lions were able to take gifts for all members of the families, as well as some festive items of food, including Lions Christmas Cakes. Father Christmas then delivered the parcels, accompanied by Lions helpers and two of the local Community Police Officers. All the gifts were gratefully received, especially in the houses where there were young children, and the recipients all said how lovely it was that somebody had thought about them during their difficult times.

If any other Club is interested in doing the same thing next year, we would suggest that you contact your local Police in the first instance and ask if they would like to set something up with their neighbourhood team. From our experience, they were only too pleased to help.
