Lions Clubs International Music Competition

From 2010 the European Music Competition becomes the International Music Competition with another level added to the current formula.

The winner of the European Competition, held at Europa Forum each year, will now go forward to a competition to be held each year at the International Convention. They will compete against the other winners from the 7 Constitutional Areas of the World.

The maximum age of the candidate is 25 and they must have been a citizen of their home country for at least 5 years.

The first International Competition will be take place at Convention this year in Sydney.

The instrument is violin and the European winner of 2008 Sophie Rosa will be the entrant. Sophie was the MD105 entrant and our first winner since the competition began.

I don’t yet know if Trombone or the Classical Guitar will be the chosen instrument for IC 2011 in Seattle.

The prizes will be; - 1st $10,000, 2nd $7,000, 3rd $3,000

For the Lions year 2010/11 the chosen instrument is OBOE and the European Final in Maastricht. The successful musician at Europa Forum will represent Europe at a future International Convention as will the 2011/12 winner from EF Brussels with CELLO.
