Silver Anniversary for Droitwich

Members of Droitwich Lions have celebrated the club's 25th anniversary at a Charter dinner and dance which was held at Worcester Warriors' Sixways stadium.

Among the guests were five Charter members who have been stalwarts of the club ever since its inauguration in 1985 and they were presented with their 25 year chevrons by District Governor Femi Onabolu who congratuled the club and its members for serving the Droitwich community for a quarter of a century.

Neighbouring clubs from the Zone were also present including members from Bromsgrove which is the mother club of Droitwich.

President John Kelly also welcome guest speaker David Pangbourne, President of Droitwich Rotary club who was invited to join the celebrations after the two clubs successfully worked closely together to run Santa's Sleigh in the town last Christmas and the two clubs plan to cooperate once again this year. The sleigh had previously been taken round the town each Christmas by Droitwich Round Table but the event was in danger of being scrapped following the demise of the local Round Table branch until Droitwich Lions and the Rotary club stepped in to ensure its continuing success by taking Santa to the town's children.

Members of the Droitwich club are pictured with Disctrict Governor Femi and his wife Anna.
