Winner of the recent Lions trolley dash at Tesco’s in Monkspath Juliet Davis from Dorridge could not believe her luck when the Lions told her she had won the 4 minute £300 trolley dash held last Sunday.

‘I like to give to charity, but there are so many to choose from these days and money is tight for all of us’, said Juliet. ‘I saw the Lions trolley dash was for local causes and decided to buy two tickets never expecting to win – well you don’t do you? It was great surprise and great fun on the day.’

The raffle was organised between Shirley and Knowle & Dorridge Lions clubs’ said Shirley Lions Club President Martin Conlon. ‘We thank all the shoppers who supported us. We shall be using the proceeds to part fund our tea party for the elderly residents of Shirley, whilst Knowle and Dorridge will put their half towards this year’s youth travel bursaries.’

‘This was the first time our clubs have worked together in this way and our first trolley dash,’ said Dave Carter of Knowle & Dorridge Lions. ‘Usually we are busy organising much larger events like Shirley Carnival and Summer Stroll & Bikeathon next weekend (Sat 9 & Sun 10 July), and supporting our local communities. Joining Lions is a great way to put something back and meet a great group of friends.
