Bromsgrove Lions Give TLC to Hospital Garden

Over the last year, Bromsgrove Lions have been busy transforming the Pat Chippendale garden at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bromsgrove. Following much valued advice from Barry Hall of Littleheath Garden Centre, several members of the Lions have spent a few hours each week cutting back old growth from shrubs, digging borders and raised beds ready for new plants and varnishing all of the wooden benches around the garden. In addition to this, Dave Lee of Middlemore Tree Surgery offered his help to tame a very large silver birch tree which had grown too large for the garden to allow much more light into the garden.

In December, Webbs of Wychbold very kindly donated a large quantity of bulbs which were planted by the volunteers to help with the regeneration of the garden and to provide a brighter and more colourful environment for patients, their visitors and staff who work at the hospital. Recently, they have also given a large number of bedding plants for the continued updating of the garden and they will soon be planted to provide a splash of colour throughout the summer months for the continued enjoyment of visitors to the garden.
