Sun shines on Bikeathon riders 

The sun shone on over 450 cyclists and 250 walkers from all over the Midlands who set out from Packwood House last Sunday for the 5th running of the Solihull & Warwickshire Bikeathon and 9th annual Lions Summer Stroll organised by Knowle and Dorridge Lions and sponsored by Bannatyne’s Health Club.

Record sponsorship pledges of over £13,000 were reported to the Lions to help fund research into blood. Over £2,000 was collected on the day from donations with the Lions Bar-B-Que proving as popular as ever providing everyone with picnics after their exertion.

‘It was a great day’ said Lions President Adrian Harris who welcomed families, company teams and individuals who tackled a choice upto 28 mile signposted rides and 8 mile walks. ‘We are extremely fortunate to have enjoyed a close relationship with the local National Trust for 18 years now, who allow us to use their fields as our car parks. Packwood House provides an excellent backdrop for this fundraising day.’
