THE COVENTRY WALKATHON

The Coventry Walkathon, an annual event, organised by the Coventry Leofric Lions once again has proven what a marvellous vehicle it is in serving the Local charities, schools, club and good causes it’s now raised £162,000.00 and the money is still coming in.

The Coventry Leofric Lions Club were so impressed by William Craner dedication to the charity walk they decided to present him with a special award a day pass for the family for Drayton Manor Park.

William had a very enjoyable day and has upto date raised £23,960.50 for cerebral palsy Charity Scope 4 Coventry and Warwickshire all from the Walkathon.

William aged 27 has cerebral palsy and has been involved with the charity Scope since he was a child. He's taken part in the last eleven Coventry Walkathons and is looking forward to next year’s event which is on Sunday 15 May in the War Memorial Park.

William said “I think its fabulous charity. I’m proud to have taken part in so many walkathons and to help raise so much money. I love taking part its great fun“.

Scope supports people with cerebral palsy and helps them live more independently as well as organizing holidays and providing vital information for those with cerebral palsy and their families.

Chairman Dick Harris of Scope said ‘while the charity is celebrating its 65th birthday this year it is also looking for more people to help it continue’. He thanked William for his efforts in the walkathon on and praised charity volunteers’ who push wheelchairs in the event.
