Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Lions Join YMCA

Shoeboxes, rubber bands, toothpaste, mittens, flannels, yo-yo's, sweets, pencils, rubbers, teddy bears.

A rather strange shopping list?

No – the above were just some of the many items needed for a fun, but very busy evening, filling boxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Lion Albert writing a special message

During this shared event, between Worcester Lions and YMCA, 203 boxes were completed and will be distributed in coming months to under privileged children in Serbia. Sadly, for many of these children, it will be the only gift they receive during their lives. They suffer hardship and deprivation in a way that we can only begin to imagine, but hopefully these boxes will ensure a smile on their faces.

The last of the boxes

Many thanks to all those who have worked so hard over many months – Community Director Sue – who took on the daunting task of organising the event, was sadly ill on the day and unable to see the culmination of all her hard work, Joy – who along with Sue spent hours tracking down bargains, and numerous others - Lions, non-Lions and YMCA. To all those who collected, wrapped, donated, sewed, knitted etc - I would love to mention you all by name, but unfortunately there are too many - but you know who you are!

Many many thanks.
