The Coventry Walkathon, which will take place on the Sunday 15 May at The War Memorial Park, has proven over the 15 years it’s been running a marvelous event for raising money.

It has now raised a staggering £164,587.76 for local charities and good causes due to the efforts of the Coventry walkers supporting the Coventry Leofric Lions Club the organizer.

It is thanks to our Sponsors Coventry Telegraph, Coventry Council, Touch FM and Coventry Building Society ALL the MONEY RAISED goes to your pledged charity.

What are the advantages of taking part? It gives you the opportunity to get as many people to walk a safe well marked course. Sponsor Forms are supplied and adequate marshals and first aid will be on hand. Your biggest job will be to collect the sponsor money knowing all the money raised goes to your charity or good cause.

The 1.75 mile perimeter of the park will serve as a lap of the walk and each walker can decide how many laps they would like to attempt.

There is a fancy dress competition which will be judged by the Lord Mayor and the Coventry Lions president giving you a chance to swell your sponsor money by £100 and the are other minor prizes.

We would like to thank the Warwickshire Police, Med Event UK, 7th Coventry Scouts Group and C& J Printers for their support.

One of the many success stories from the 2010 Coventry Walkathon was The Resource Centre for the Blind who had only been running for six weeks when they joined in with the 2010 Walkathon. The users and volunteers had a really good day and were amazed to raise £1000 from their sponsors.

The group will be taking part again this year and are hoping to raise even more money to support the Centre Earlsdon for the Blind and partially sighted.

If you don’t have a charity in mind but enjoy walking and fundraising the Coventry Leofric Lions Clubs for 2011 have nominated the British Heart Foundation as their chosen charity. So why not walk for them? They will welcome your support as they are celebrating their 50th Anniversary.
