OEUF TO FRANCE 

One of the baskets of Easter Eggs won in the Lions annual Easter Raffle was off to France to be enjoyed by the winners family.

Knowle and Dorridge Lions have announced that this year’s raffles at the Black Boy and Drum & Monkey P.H.s proved an outstanding success with all 10,000 tickets sold out well before Easter.

‘We were delighted that the unseasonal Summer weather attracted so many customers to both pubs in the run up to Easter and that the majority wanted to support the Warks & Northants Air Ambulance, Stroke Association & local Scout groups by entering our raffles’, said organising Lion John Horton. ‘We will have raised over £2500 as the prize and ticket costs had been covered by Standley & Co Solicitors’.

The Lions have been raffling baskets of eggs in local pubs for over 30 years, and would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of the pubs, our sponsors and all the generous customers for their support.

‘One of the standard questions we get is “What happens when I win and live a long way away?”. With fingers crossed we always assure the purchaser that we will deliver it for Easter wherever they live’, said John and fortunately once again this year the prize-winners live in Solihull

Jeanne from Olton said she was delighted to win, having been keen to buy the tickets to support the Stroke Association, her husband having recently suffered a stroke.

Eamonn from Hockley Heath urgently wanted to collect his prize as he was heading off to France for Easter and looked forward to sharing the chocolate and eggs with his grandchildren in Normandy. ‘We were glad we contacted Eamonn and got the prize to him before he left. A few hours later and we would have been calling him on his mobile in France and who knows how we would have got the prize to him for Easter,’ said John.
