Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Hog Roast Kings of 105M

On August 24th Southam Lions were busily engaged with one of their legendry Pig Roasts. On this occasion it was at the invitation of the landlady Liz Boff of The Olde Mint Pub in Southam, whose car park we also use in October for the Mop Day Hog Roast.

Liz Boff on this occasion organised a ‘Family Fun Day’ and being Lions who always enjoy a little fun, we were happy to oblige. Money was raised for local charities and apart form a couple of showers in the morning, the afternoon was glorious and the lively banter from the Lions, possibly due to copious amounts of beer, made this a real fun day for all concerned.

The picture shows Liz Boff with Lion President Danny making the first cut.

Southam Lions again, for the umpteenth time, organised a HOG ROAST on Southam Mop Day – Monday 13th October . All day long the Lions’ slowly turned the wheel to ensure that the hog was roasted to perfection!

The first ‘cut’ was undertaken by the Town Mayor at 7pm and 350 buns later we were sold out! Certainly this is how it has been every year and as the weather was kind on October 13th things were no different.

Lions’ will also sold Raffle Tickets on the day with great prizes all donated by local individuals and businesses. This year our special charity to benefit from the Raffle will be Southam St John Ambulance to enable them to purchase a Trolley Stretcher.

In all the Mop Day roast and raffle raised over £1,000.
