Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Warwick Lions First Female President

After 47 years, Warwick Lions Club made history by inaugurating their first lady President, Lion Pauline Fanti. Lion Pauline who is retired and lives in Coventry, will be supported by the incoming Vice President Lion David Shore.

The changeover party took place at the home of outgoing President Geoff Wiskin. Situated in Warwick, overlooking the racecourse, Geoff and his wife Christine laid on a meal of salmon and salad followed by strawberries & cream.

Before handing over the chain of office outgoing President Geoff presented the Club’s Frank Denby Award for achievement to Lion Peter Knights. In addition, long service chevrons were given to:-

  • Lion Charles King-Smith - 35 years
  • Lion David Wright - 20 years
  • Lion Paul Brown - 10 years
Incoming President Pauline’s first duty was to present Past President Geoff with a long service chevron for 10 years membership. President Pauline went on to welcome Thelma Atkins, wife of Lion Tony Atkins. Thelma is the new President of Warwick Rotary Club and the two Presidents look forward to greater co-operation between their two Clubs.
