Support for Piracy Victims

Lion Len Holder with Ken Peters and Huw Mosford at Mission to Seafarers HQ in London

Piracy is still a major problem facing seafarers in many parts of the world, particularly off Somalia. The treatment of the victims is very cruel, even using their mobile phones to ring their families with threats if ransoms are not paid. The Mission to Seafarers and other welfare organisations are in a position to offer support to seafarers operating in dangerous areas, and to contact and support families of those who are detained.

Towcester Lion Len Holder and his wife Ann this month presented a cheque for £520 (£650 with Gift Aid) in support of training for trauma counselling for victims. The money is from sale of the books "A Light-hearted Look at Seafaring" and "More of Len's Stories". These books (£12 each, including postage) are sold from home by Len and Ann Holder (phone 01327 352647)

Thanks to Lions from the Midland Area who have already bought books and especially those who told us how much they enjoyed them!
