Northampton 80 Lions Club recently responded to a request for financial aid from a local football team by funding the purchase of kit for one of their junior teams.

Thorplands Club 81 was set up to tackle alcohol addiction, crime and anti social behaviour in a deprived area of Northampton in 1981.

The Club’s aims are to improve the outlook of the community by improving life's outcomes; the older generation passing on their life skills, mainly through football, to the younger generation.

Lion President Doug Cooper said that bearing in mind the Club’s aims and the fact that their funding by grants from government and the local council had been reduced the Lions had been only too pleased to assist.
