Santa out and about in Aldridge

Santa attracted lots of Aldridge children during the lead up to Christmas, including four year old Alanah Moore (pictured). Alanah was very pleased to see Santa and said she would be looking forward to his visit on Christmas Eve.

Supporting Santa were members of the Aldridge & District Lions Club who were fund raising for their charity account to support their work in the coming year.

Lions President, Harry Fry, said, “Last year we had a very poor Christmas collection as we had to cancel several of the planned times owing to the severe bad weather. We have been very fortunate with our collections this year and have had a good response from the shoppers at all of our collections. We are most grateful for their kindness.”

The Lions held their collections at Asda in Great Barr, Morrison’s in Aldridge, Aldridge Precinct and Tesco’s in Brownhills. The final total for the Christmas collections was £2125.

The Aldridge & District Lions Club would like to thank all those who contributed to their charitable funds through their Christmas collections.

Recent beneficiaries of donations from the Club include Marie Curie Trust, Walsall Arthritis Care and Walsall Arthritis Support Group, Cancer Research, Help for Heroes, RNLI, Aldridge Youth Theatre, Parkinson’s Disease Society, Walsall Heartcare and local Scouts and Guides. During the last financial year nearly thirty different organisations and individuals benefited from over £8000 of donations from the Club.
