Well we did it!

Father Christmas in conversation with Leila at Tesco in Southam on the last day!

This Christmas once again Southam Lions braved the weather and set out with Father Christmas and the sleigh pulled by our fantastic reindeer to visit the children all over the Southam area. This meant 14 expeditions, mostly at night – setting off at 5.30pm and returning usually at 9.00pm, tired with aches and pains but suitably dulled by those kind souls who poured out generous amounts of alcohol and the occasional mince pie! We nearly lost one of our Lions one night since he slipped into a deep ditch and it was only his mumblings that saved him! He walks with a bit of a limp now but it adds to his woeful reputation! -Good job we do a head count otherwise he might still be there!

The important thing though is that Southam Lions amassed a fantastic £4,522.75 and this will be split between two charities – Zoe’s Place (A Hospice for sick children – babies really) and Helen and Douglas Home (A Hospice for teen-age cancer sufferers). We will shortly be issuing cheques to these great charities at one of our meetings.
