Kidderminster & District Lions support The Commandery

433 knitted leaves have been delivered to Sarah Bourne at The Commandery, a museum in Worcester, thus bringing their total to over 4,000 leaves. Sarah hopes this will enable them to be included in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest tree of knitted leaves.

After display at the Museum most of the leaves will be sewn into blankets for those in need here and abroad, while some will be made into brooches to sell in aid of charity.

Lions Linda, Ron & Joyce handed over the leaves and saw the trees already festooned.

Go along to The Commandery on Easter Bank Holiday Monday to see the whole display; Kidderminster Lions contributions have ‘L’ embroidered on each of them.

Before going to The Commandery you could participate in Kidderminster & District Lions Club’s Duck Race in Bewdley. Hire & register a duck from 10 a.m. ready for the “throw in” at midday, then head for Worcester to see the leaves.

Thanks to those who knitted to help our Lions publicity campaign and look out for the next Commandery project which will involve patchwork, either sewn or knitted. .
