Warwickshire Young Carers take time out for their own enjoyment

On the 4th April 2013 Warwickshire Water Park was the venue for a day out for Stratford upon Avon Young Carers, courtesy of Shakespeare Lions. The group of 11 young carers and their two project workers departed Stratford as the snow once again made its presence known.

Kayaking was the order of the day, but on arrival at the Education Centre it was obvious that when considering health and safety issues, no way could the Kayaking go ahead, much to the disappointment of those attending. Plan B was then put into operation with the group participating in a Team Building session during the morning. After the lunch break which gave an opportunity for everyone to thaw out and replenish energy levels, the afternoon was spent being taught the skills of climbing and archery.

In spite of the day not being as planned it was enjoyed under dreadful weather conditions and contributed to new and existing skills being achieved by the group. The purpose of the day was to give the Young Carers an opportunity to relax, take a break and help them realise their own ambitions.
