The Falcon Hotel Stratford was the venue for Shakespeare Lions annual changeover lunch on Sunday the 14th July. Outgoing president John Jacobs touched on the many aspects of work and fun that the club had been involved in during his term of office.

A warm welcome was extended to incoming President Tim Hewson-Stoate. In his address to Lions, partners and friends he thanked JJ for all the hard work he had put into his Presidency and congratulated him on the wide range of activities members had undertaken during his leadership.

Referring to the future Tim stated that his aims for the next year could be expressed with three statements:-

  1. To involve as many Lions as possible in as many activities as possible, thanking the new members particularly for becoming heavily involved with a wide range of things such as the Children's Christmas Party for those with learning difficulties, for providing essential support to the establishment of the First Responders and the rescoping of our Website.
  2. Contribution to the Community, a critical part of local Lions, from providing shopping in the snow to providing financial help and manual support for the Foodbank.
  3. Having fun while doing what Lion do, an essential part of a successful club.

In summing up Tim referred to his job as holding the ship on course inspiring all members to participate to the full, looking for opportunities to help where the Lions could.

It had been a busy few weeks for Lions participating with Wellesbourne Lions in organising the traditional Raft Race and delivering a very successful presence at the River Festival.

The Club now looks forward to another successful year under Tim’s leadership.
