Lion President Ken goes “solo”

A cheque for £1,700 was presented by the new Solihull Lions President Ken Bate to SoLO at their monthly meeting on Tuesday 16th July. SoLO stands for Solihull Life Opportunities and is an organisation reliant on charitable funding that helps children, young people and adults who have learning difficulties from around the area of Solihull.

There are a huge number of volunteers who help the main staff and they all work together to bring on new challenges for the people who attend there. The service users are also able to make new friends and the staff try to teach them a sense of independence and gain new personal skills. SoLO also provide respite care and support to some 700 parents and carers of people with learning disabilities and provides high class social and leisure opportunities for their children.

Lion President Ken said “It is an honour to be able to give to such a worthy cause. The fact that SoLO has just moved to new premises at the back of the Old Fire Station in Solihull makes it all the more special. The £1,700 donation from Solihull Lions will be going towards the provision of a Sensory Room in the new premises”
