A Cautionary Tale from International Convention – never get dressed in a hurry!

When Lions Wim and Pauline Hoogerwerf went to the final plenary session at the International Convention in Hamburg, they agreed they would both wear their Marston Green and District Lions Club polo shirts, complete with their own names embroidered on them, as they were seeing their Club member, Simon Moss, be sworn in as District Governor for 105M. However, due to Wim being a slow starter in the mornings, Pauline left first, saying she would save a seat for Wim in the Convention Hall and left Wim to come along at a more leisurely pace.

Having secured their seats, Pauline waited for Wim to arrive and, when he did, she was surprised to see that he was wearing an ordinary checked casual shirt. “Why are you not wearing your Marston Green polo shirt?” Pauline demanded. “Because you have it on” replied Wim!

A reliable source said that Pauline had spent the journey to the O2 Arena complaining how the polo shirts were too big and baggy and not made to fit women. Nobody has yet managed to answer the question why Wim did not just put on Pauline’s shirt, but the attached photos might give a clue!
