Author enlists support of Kenilworth Lions to donate books to CLIC Sargent

Kathy Lovell, author of the book ‘Under the Fountain’, has gained the support of Kenilworth Lions so that copies of her book can be donated to children receiving support from CLIC Sargent at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. In total, 50 books, and their value in cash, have been donated to the CLIC Sargent team in Birmingham which supports children and young people with cancer and attending Birmingham Children’s Hospital for treatment. The books will be distributed to children from the Coventry and Kenilworth area.

Kath Hill, CLIC Sargent Team Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital said “We are really grateful to Kathy and Kenilworth Lions for their donation. The books will help children understand their treatment and help lessen the isolation children can experience when diagnosed with cancer and treated in hospital often many miles away from their friends and family”.

Kathy Lovell, author of the book, says “I would like to thank Kenilworth Lions club for their donation of £300 to CLIC Sargent, and am delighted to donate 50 copies of my book to the staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. Most families from the Coventry/Kenilworth area travel to the Birmingham hospitals for treatment, where CLIC-Sargent provide a total of 9 Social and Care workers.

Last year CLIC-Sargent supported 37 cases of childhood cancer in the Coventry and Kenilworth area with grants totalling £7,791.
