A hair raising experience in Solihull

 

Ray Howell, manager at Browns Butchers in Solihull has had his head shaved publicly for charity. He raised a grand total of £3,200 and on the day with customers and passers-by watching his demise outside the shop he collected a whopping £650. The charity he supports is MDS UK. This is a patient support group for MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) which is a malfunction of the bone marrow in producing the correct quantity and quality of blood cells.

Solihull Lions decided to donate £150 towards his efforts and on the day the President of Solihull Lions Ken Bate went to the butchers shop to present Ray with the cheque. Ray himself has the illness and several members of his family have unfortunately had the same ailment.  


 

There was even an auction to shave the last part of his head and one of his customers gave £50 to undertake the task. All the women agreed he looked quite dashing with his new Kojak look!
