Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

The Bra Chain event that nearly made the World Record

Some of the Bralinkers.....

It was 4.00 pm. when it became obvious that the attempt to beat the World Record for the longest chain of bras, all linked together, was going to fail.

Volunteers had started to arrive on site at the Worcester Horse Race circuit since 6.00 am. and by late afternoon, some 130,000 bras had been laid out around the 1.2 mile race track. Although it was estimated that there were just about enough bras left to beat the Australian record of almost 167,000, a decision was made to call it a day and rethink how to speed up and lay out the one continuous line of bras required by the Guinness World Record regulations.

Rolling out the bra's

A number of problems arose that slowed down the operation of laying out the bras. Some related to the previous storage of 'builders rubble bags' that were used to hold some 750 or 1000 already linked bras.

Another related to the hooks, (you know, those that us men find so troublesome). When one bra is hooked into another bra, not all the hooks were used and the free ones snagged on other items making the laying out a slow process

When this has been agreed, the date will be published through the auspices of Simon Moss, but in the meantime, please keep collecting the bras so we can 'SMASH' the Aussies record by an astounding margin.

Three Wise Monkey's

Through us Lions, it has been estimated that we collected around 8,000-10,000 bras. A really fantastic amount and a tribute to how our organisation can respond to worthy causes.

Only two furlongs to go.....

On the day, there were well over 40 Lions representing about 15 clubs from 105M who volunteered their time to help out. Brilliant!!! More than any of the other charitable organisations that were there on the day.

The attached pictures will show some of the fun and antics that everyone got up to.

Thank you all very much for your participation in the event and I hope that, although we didn't make it this time, you'll be able to help in the second attempt once the date has been set.
