They're Off

Despite gale force winds blowing against them over 300 runners took part in our eight annual Blythe Valley Park Charity Fun Run on Sunday 11th September. The funds raised from the event will be shared equally between the Marie Curie Big Build and Solihull Life Opportunities (SoLO). The 10k race was won by Richard Dixon in a time of 40 minutes 44 seconds with Gavin Davies in second place and Andy Hall third. The 5k race was won by Stuart Wischhusen in a time of 20 minutes 44 seconds with Paul Jephcott in second place and Dean Haden third. The prizes for the oldest and youngest runners were won by 86 year old Nicki Barter, a Marie Curie volunteer and 5 year old Shazad Khan who competed in the 5k race rather the children's Mini Run. The fastest lady in the 10k race was Rachel Hatfield in a time of 45.39 minutes and the fastest lady in the 5k race was Emma Cakebread in 25.35minutes.The fancy dress prize went to Joyce Sale, another Marie Curie volunteer.
