On Yer Bike 

Lion Barry Dale, Chair of Knowle and Dorridge Lions Club Community Services Committee was delighted to accept an invitation to the South Birmingham and Solihull Sector St John Ambulance awards presentation evening this month.

After seeing St John volunteers receiving all manner of awards for long service Barry had pleasure in presenting new bikes to the Cycle Response Unit. Barry explained ‘Our Club makes excellent use of St John Ambulance services at our Knowle Fun Run each May and Bikeathon & Stroll in July. We appreciate how difficult is for them to have their resources in the right place at the right time and the extra mobility these fully equipped responder bikes bring to enable their volunteers to access the course amidst crowds of runners etc is clear.’

‘We retain a proportion of the funds raised at our events for locally determined causes, which can include Lions, national and international causes, as well as more locally based charities. We are delighted that once again last year we emptied our ‘locally determined’ account donating all the £15,000 monies raised to carefully selected charities’.
