Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

'It's a Knockout'

Malvern Hills Lions Club hosted another successful 'It’s a Knockout' competition with around 250 participants and helpers attending the event at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.

Every year, usually during the first week of November, Special Education and Social Education Centres band together to encourage friendly competition, with groups of all ages participating in the games devised by the Centres taking part.

The theme of the day, decided on by the Centres a few months before the event itself, became 'Under the Deep Blue Sea', and once this had been decided, each Centre encourage its members to come up with posters to promote the event.

Months before the usual date - the first week in November- Centres agree with Malvern Hills Lions Club the Theme for the Year and put forward their ideas for games and activities relevant to the theme.

They each devise one game and start preparing the equipment they need to play the game and then turn up on the day with their helpers to add the finishing touches to the room, which this year saw Avon Hall transformed into an underwater world.

After months of planning, organizing, and preparing the equipment needed to play the games, Malvern Lions spend an entire day setting up the hall with assistance from helpers, in the lead up to the 13th annual event, held at Three Counties Showground in Malvern.

Malvern Hill Lions Club would like to thank Evesham Day Centre, Malvern Social Education Centre, Regency High School in Worcester, Worcester Perryfields Social Education Centre, Tewksbury Adult Opportunity Centre, and Droitwich Kingfields Day Service for taking part. the hall with assistance from helpers, in the lead up to the 13th annual event, held at Three Counties Showground in Malvern.

A special thanks also, to the local businesses who provided over £1000 to help pay for the event, which this year provided more than 250 participants with refreshments and a tremendously good time.
