Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

A Busy Week

Sorted food and final instructions

Sunday 12th December, Warwick Lions Club collected tins of food door to door round the town and took them to All Saints' Church Hall to sort and count and make up over 170 parcels for old and needy people. Most of these were distributed the same day.

Starting to make up the parcels

This year ‘County Enterprise Foods of Nottingham’ won the Meals on Wheels contract for the whole of Warwickshire and set up a new local kitchen at Unit C1, Harris Rd, Broxell Close, Warwick, CV34 5JU. From there a fleet of about 20 vans distribute 500 to 550 meals every day of the week.

Traditionally Warwick Lions Club had paid for Christmas Meals on Wheels in the Warwick area and approached the new company in hopes of continuing the tradition. They were happy to do this and more.

Eventually the Lions Clubs in Alcester, Kenilworth, Rugby, Stour Valley, Southam and Wellesbourne & District all paid for their areas too and County Enterprise Foods donated a mince pie with each meal.

On Monday 13th, Lions from Kenilworth, Wellesbourne and Warwick left in vans from the kitchens to help with the deliveries and members from the other clubs were picked up by the vans en route to assist in their areas.
