Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Albeit A Little Late

President of Southam Lions David Williams and Eileen Rock of Acorns

Albeit a little late, and with an uncertain Spring in the air, Southam Lions at their last two meetings were delighted to present cheques each for £1650 to The Tiny Tim’s Centre in Coventry and to Acorns Children’s’ Hospice in Birmingham.

The funds were generated by Southam Lions and their annual Father Christmas Float by collecting funds so generously given by the locals of Southam and the surrounding villages. Despite really dreadful weather more or less throughout the weeks leading up to Christmas, only two visits were cancelled and that was due to the icy conditions which might have caused the reindeer to slip! Those stalwart Lions though braved the cold and handed out chocolate bars to all the children and it was interesting to note from Father Christmas himself that the toys being delivered by him on Christmas Eve were certainly of a very high standard. One little boy asked for everything in the Argos Catalogue to be delivered and it was really hard work for a very overworked Father Christmas!

Southam Lions wish to thank everyone for their generosity during 2010 and apologise for missing anyone out. Hopefully the weather next Christmas will be a little better!!
