Aldridge Fayre Ready for the Crowds

Mayor opens Fayre with Aldridge School Band

With just one month to go, all the stalls at the Aldridge Fayre have been booked and a great afternoons entertainment is planned. The 17th Annual Aldridge Fayre, taking place on Saturday 18th June at Anchor Meadow in Aldridge, is promising to be even better than previous years’ successful events.

The Fayre is organised by the Aldridge & District Lions Club and event organiser, John Hand, said, “Building on previous Fayres we have had no problem in attracting stall holders. Apart from many of the organisations who have attended previously, we have also gained some new participants.”

The arena events are also using a combination of previous and new attractions. There will be the usual mix of music, dance and entertainment to keep the crowds engaged throughout the day.

Aldridge Lions Club President, Clive Redfern, said, “The annual Fayre is one of the major events in our calendar. It gives over 40 charities within the area the facility to raise funds for themselves. As it is a free event, we are unable to raise major funds for ourselves but our raffle ticket sales do go to a specified charity each year. This year we are supporting jointly the Marie Curie Trust plus two arthritis charities - Walsall Arthritis Care and Walsall Arthritis Support Group.”

Aldridge Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International and has raised many thousands of pounds over the years. Recent beneficiaries of donations from the Club include Cancer Research, Help for Heroes, RNLI, Aldridge Youth Theatre, Parkinson’s Disease Society, Walsall Heart Care and local Scouts and Guides. During the last financial year nearly thirty different organisations and individuals benefited from over £8000 of donations from the Club.
